McIntosh has always meant quality. Simply a higher standard. Premium, handcrafted, made in the USA. Designed in 1967, the MC2105 is the epitome of timeless design with its iconic blue meters. The chassis is near mint, and the glass is in good condition. If you look carefully, what you're seeing are not cracks, but rather artifacts of restoration. Some initial bubbling behind the glass has been stemmed by repainting the affected areas, which leaves a hairline boundary between the old paint and new. Also with this piece, there is an issue very common with these models, where the tar inside the potted transformer can separate, producing a tiny hum from the transformer itself. Even in silence, the transformer hum is almost imperceptible and doesn't appear in the output of the unit, so once we heard it, it took us a little time to identify. Neither of these issues will affect your causal listening, but we wanted to let you know.

- Liner Notes
The MC 2105 is completely stable when connected to any loudspeaker system or even to any reactive loads; The amplifier has special circuits to prevent damage by short circuit or open circuit of the output loads, or by any amount of output impedance mismatch, Thermal cutouts are mounted on the output transistor heat sinks to provide protection in the event of inadequate ventilation.
